If you’re a clinic owner or brand hoping for press coverage in the run-up to New Year, here’s the slightly awkward news: most of it is being commissioned right now.Monthly glossies work three to four months ahead, which means features running in December and January print issues were planned back in September and October. We’re already past that window for the earliest titles, but Sunday supplements and digital titles move faster, and their writers are, at this exact point in the calendar, thinking about party season skin, winter repair and what readers will be asking for in 2027.What that means in practice is that the clinics and experts who appear in those pieces aren’t necessarily the ones with the biggest marketing budget. They’re the ones who were on a journalist’s radar early enough, with a clear, specific area of expertise the journalist already associated with them. The unglamorous version of what that takes: making sure two or three writers who actually cover your area know exactly what you’re expert in, well before they’re on deadline. Having a point of view on a treatment trend before it peaks, rather than a reactive comment once everyone else has already said something. And being reachable and quick when a journalist has an end-of-day deadline and needs a proper clinical answer rather than a marketing line, because that responsiveness is often what decides who gets quoted and who gets left out of the final piece. If a Q1 press push is on your plan and the groundwork hasn’t started, this is the window to begin it. The earliest titles have already closed their December pages, but there is still real opportunity across digital, Sunday supplements and the January features currently being shaped, provided the outreach starts now rather than once everyone else has had the same idea.

For the earliest print titles, yes. But Sunday supplements, digital titles and January features are still open, provided outreach starts now rather than later in the year.
Now. January ‘reset’ and skin or wellbeing features are shaped from October onwards, so waiting until the new year means missing the window entirely.
Being genuinely known to two or three relevant writers for a specific area of expertise, and being quick to respond when a journalist is working to a same-day deadline.
